In a vibrant display of teamwork and athleticism, Wukani Education Facilities on Thursday hosted a spectacular sports festival, bringing together students and stakeholders for a fun-filled day of competition and camaraderie.
The day-long sporting event which was held at the Mzuzu stadium showcased an array of sporting disciplines, including football, netball, bottle filling competition, athletics, and tag of war.
Davie Botha, School Manager of Wukani Education Facilities, praised the school management and stakeholders, such as the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), for their collaborative efforts in fostering well-rounded individuals.
“The festival’s success underscores the power of sports in promoting unity, discipline, and holistic development among young people,” said Botha.
He also emphasized the importance of making sports a mandatory part of the curriculum, highlighting its transformative impact on social and socioeconomic development.
Robert Mziza, FAM Regional Sports Development Coordinator, commended the school’s commitment to excellence, noting that its top-notch education status has attracted other stakeholders to partner with the institution.
“Education is key to socio-economic growth, and sports helps build upright minds with cognitive abilities that complement physical expertise,” Mziza remarked.
Notable alumni, including pilots Lusekele Mwenefumbo and Dick Botha, musician Patience Namadingo, and footballer Green Harawa, serve as inspiring examples of the institution’s commitment to nurturing talented and accomplished individuals.
This year’s festival theme, “Promoting Health Education Through Sports,” resonated deeply with the participants as Wukani Education Facilities continues to soar, its emphasis on sports and education undoubtedly producing more outstanding achievers in various fields.
