Minister of Health, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, has emphasized the importance of ensuring access to quality medicines for all Malawians.
Speaking during inauguration of medicine test site in Lilongwe, Chiponda highlighted the government’s efforts to strengthen the country’s pharmaceutical system.
She said government has been working to improve its healthcare system, including the regulation of medicines.
“The Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA) is responsible for ensuring that all medicines available in the country meet quality and safety standards.”
Chiponda: “We are committed to ensuring that all Malawians have access to quality medicines. We will continue to work with stakeholders to strengthen our pharmaceutical system and protect public health.”
In his remarks, Pharmacy and Medicine Regulatory Authority (PMRA), Board Chair, Frider Chimimba said: “we are dedicated to ensuring that all medicines available in Malawi meet quality and safety standards.
“We will continue to work with the government and other stakeholders to achieve this goal.”
The government and PMRA will continue to work together to strengthen the pharmaceutical system and increase access to quality medicines.
This includes ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the pharmaceutical , as well as public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the importance of using quality medicines.
