The Malawi Assemblies of God University (MAGU) today held a public lecture on mental health and well-being at its Lilongwe Campus.

Keynote speaker, Dr. Flexon Nguringa, the Senior Medical Officer at Kamuzu Central Hospital, stressed the need for people in the country to seek counseling when troubled.

Dr. Nguringa also hailed MAGU’s 2025 Early Childhood Development (ECD) Class for organizing the event, saying it has helped to raise awareness of mental health issues that need to be tackled.

Class Representative for 2025 ECD, Julia Mwenisungo, told Timveni Online that they organised the event to break the silence that is fueling cases of suicide and to show how people, especially students, can deal with depression and stress.

The lecture also coincided with a book launch titled “Learning Through Play” by John Moyo.
