The people of Mzimba Luwerezi have expressed deep disappointment with the government’s continued neglect, which has denied them access to essential services.

The community’s frustration stems from the poor road network, infuriated by the damage caused to a key river crossing due to heavy trucks carrying Affordable Input Programme (AIP) fertilizers.

According to Mzimba-Luwerezi Member of Parliament, Sam Chirwa, the government’s inaction has resulted in children missing school and pregnant women being unable to access critical antenatal healthcare services.

“The government has failed to support those relying on agriculture, leaving school children and pregnant mothers stranded, unable to cross the treacherous waters,” Chirwa emphasized.

Meanwhile, President Lazarus Chakwera is scheduled to visit Luwerezi, where he will host a political meeting and potentially introduce Malawi Congress Party parliamentary aspirants.

Chirwa views this visit as an opportunity for the President to address the community’s concerns directly.

“We demand answers from the Head of State regarding the deplorable condition of our roads, schools, and health facilities,” Chirwa stated. “I’m glad the President is coming; let’s see what we can achieve as a constituency.”
