Police in Salima District have called on community security teams to avoid mistreating citizens while carrying out their duties to ensure safety in their communities.

Sub-Inspector Barnett Cambiqua, head of crime prevention at the Salima Police, made the appeal during a ceremony where solar energy company JCM Power donated equipment to community security teams under Chief Kazimbe in the district.

Cambiqua emphasized the importance of building strong relationships with community members, stating that mutual respect and collaboration are key to effectively addressing crime in the area.

“Good relations with the public are the foundation for resolving cases in the community. Security teams must carry out their work without infringing on people’s rights,” Cambiqua said.

Levison Masamba, head of community relations at JCM Power, highlighted that the donation is part of the company’s commitment to strengthening community ties and supporting security efforts in the area.

The donated items include torches, walkie-talkies, and other equipment to enhance the efficiency of the community security teams.

The initiative is expected to bolster security operations in the area while promoting human rights and cooperation between security teams and local residents.
