Justice Annabel Mtalimanja…..will free and fair September, 2025 elections be possible with her in office?

The Defenders Group for Good Governance, has questioned the silence which is being seen in opposition parties DPP, UDF, AFORD and UTM over removal of Mec Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja, Smartmatic machine and cancellation of the whole voter registration exercise for new registration with new Mec Commissioners.
The Defenders Group has expressed fears that what is happening in Mozambique will soon come to Malawi demanding opposition parties to speak with one voice in unison there stand on the 16th September, 2025 elections for their supporters to follow.
The Group said Smartmatic machine has played its part in the ongoing political unrest in Mozambique claiming that Malawi has started hosting refugees from Mozambique fleeing the war in their country and yet the same Smartmatic machine is to be used in Malawi.
Speaking through an audio clip, Blessings Chaima Lozalio, said as the writings are on the wall in Malawi, it is very impossible for Chakwera to bounce back into government in September, 2025 unless miracles of Smartmatic and Justice Annabel Mtalimanja happen.
Chaima has questioned Malawians that are they ready and trust Justice Mtalimanja will preside over the elections free, fair, credible and transparent? If the answer is “no” why are they silent not to push their party leaders to force Mec Chairperson resign?
He said if opposition party leaders were assured by Mtalimanja that she will preside over credible elections, why are they not communicating to their supporters and followers to strengthen their hearts for a renewed trust in Mec Chairperson?
“We are standing by our demands Mtalimanja, NRB Boss Mphatso Sambo out, Smartmatic machine back to where it was procured and new registration of voters with new Mec Commissioners,” he said.
Chaima has assured opposition party leaders that Malawians are ready to cast their votes even if the elections are held tomorrow but are expressing their fears of security of their votes with allegations going round that Malawians already voted for Chakwera before the actual elections is held.
He said Malawians are expecting any opposition leader to win the 2025 elections or a candidate from an Alliance to be formed and not President Chakwera and if this happens that Chakwera has won the elections, the whole country will be on fire.
The activist said it is the wish of the Defenders Group for Good Governance to see to it that there’s peace, law and order in the country by strongly advising all patriotic Malawians not to keep quiet but to put more pressure for the MCP and President Chakwera never and ever coming back into government.
