Former President and DPP leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, says he accepted to stand in the forthcoming September, 2025 elections to liberate Malawians from the shackles of dictatorship that is being observed today under the MCP led government.

Prof. Mutharika said his standing is business saying he will stand and win in a call to return Malawi to proven leadership assuring all that Malawians are not sleeping, they are watchful over MCP rigging plans and rigging will not be possible.

He has advised President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to start packing up his belongings as he will be knocking at the Sanjika Palace main gate on 17th September, 2025 with a strong word “Tulukani, tulukani” come out, their time is over.

Speaking during his whistle-stops tour which took him to Mulanje, Phalombe and Chiladzulu districts on Thursday, Professor Mutharika has assured Malawians that the DPP is coming into government in 2025 and what is needed most is for them to register in their large numbers.

Professor Mutharika said registering names is the first step to vote for candidates in the forthcoming elections encouraging all that have been held hostage by the MCP government that time is now, to register and say enough is enough with the MCP on 16th September, 2025.

He said the MCP led government under President Chakwera has been proved to have no welfare of the citizens at heart claiming that everything has gone up in the country in the Chakwera’s name making life so unbearable to most of the households.

The DPP President claimed that Malawi which was well known for producing its own food and sale the surplus has been turned into a hungry nation as maize prices have gone up beyond the reach of the poor citizens.

“I told you in advance that MCP is MCP voting for it into government, is voting for harassment, intimidations and threats (nyekhwe) and you have proved me right, don’t make another mistake to vote for the MCP in September, 2025 elections,” said Mutharika.

He encouraged all DPP members that left the party during the time the party was sailing in difficult situations court injunctions against injunctions for it to end, to come back and rejoin the party in its quest to return Malawi to proven leadership assuring them all that he will welcome them back into the DPP family.
