By Vincent Gunde

Social Commentator Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo has written an open letter to President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera expressing his interest of the position of prospective Minister of Trade and Industry claiming that this Ministry requires strategic leadership to rectify the current economic challenges affecting Chakwera’s administration.

Sunganimoyo says the rising cost of goods is undermining President Chakwera’s leadership despite his efforts to prioritize essential services while global economic difficulties are acknowledged saying it is crucial for Chakwera’s administration to implement effective measures to stabilize prices.

In an open letter, Sunganimoyo says Chakwera’s leadership has demonstrated a commitment to addressing the needs of Malawians, but the performance of the Minister of Trade Sosten Alfred Gwengwe has been disappointing warranting a reevaluation of his leadership.

Sunganimoyo says he is confident that together with President Chakwera, they can develop and implement policies to reduce the cost of goods and promote economic growth believing that with the right leadership, the Ministry of Trade can be transformed to better serve the interests of Malawians.

“I would be honored to discuss my application and proposals in further details, i am committed to supporting your administration efforts to address the economic challenges facing the nation,” reads the writings of Sunganimoyo on the wall.

And writing on his face book page, entrepreneur Kondwani Kachamba Ngwira, has complained bitterly that prices of essential commodities are going up every day especially food products advising Malawians to put aside politics regardless of their political party affiliations that is this normal?

Ngwira says fertilizer is more than K145,000 per bag, maize is K85,000 per bag advising government that if people are speaking, it is not attacking the MCP and President Chakwera, saying these are real issues that people are in pain and suffering.

He says fuel prices was planned to be hiked by 30 percent, President Chakwera is reported to have said no to this adjustment, yesterday, Minister of Transport Jacob Hara announced government intention to raise Tollgate fees amid fuel shortages and businesses standstill.

The entrepreneur said today, Water Boards utility companies have proposed a 55 percent hike to water tariffs saying last year they hiked the same observing that it will be a very satanic approach hiking prices to the ordinary people yet politicians are splashing money in their campaign for votes.

“People are being seen standing on a single line receiving K2,000s in political campaign rallies, is this normal,” questioned Ngwira.

He has warned the MCP government and President Chakwera that if there will be no solutions within 2 years, Malawi will be back in the 1960s with poverty becoming the order of the day saying with little salaries, people will not be able to pay rent in towns, no casual piece works, school fees claiming that all this, is paining him.
