In a significant milestone for the people of Dowa district, Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda has officially opened the brand-new Mwangala Health Centre.

Located in Senior Chief Msakambewa, this state-of-the-art facility is set to revolutionize healthcare delivery in the region.

The K1.4 billion health centre is designed to serve a catchment population of 25,000 people, providing them with access to quality healthcare services right at their doorstep.

According to Minister Chiponda, the facility will greatly reduce the long distances residents previously had to travel to access medical services at the district hospital.

“This development is a testament to the government’s commitment to ensuring that our citizens do not have to walk more than five kilometres to access health services, as enshrined in the Universal Health Coverage (UHC),” Chiponda emphasized.

The new health centre is a welcome relief for the people of Dowa North East constituency, who had been struggling with limited access to healthcare services.

Member of Parliament for the area, Sam Kawale, expressed his gratitude for the facility, noting that the previous health centre could only offer minor services.

Senior Chief Msakambewa also thanked the government for the modern facility, which will not only benefit the people of Dowa district but also those from neighbouring Ntchisi district.

The Mwangala Health Centre is a shining example of the government’s efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and services across the country.

With its state-of-the-art equipment and trained healthcare personnel, the facility is poised to make a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of the people it serves.

As the government continues to invest in healthcare, it is clear that the people of Malawi will reap the benefits of improved health services and infrastructure.

The official opening of the Mwangala Health Centre is a significant step in this direction, and it is expected to have a lasting impact on the lives of thousands of people in Dowa district and beyond.
