Dr. Dalitso Kabambe calls for economic liberation in Malawi ahead of Presidential Elections

Zomba – Dr. Dalitso Kabambe, who is contesting under the UTM ticket in the upcoming presidential elections on September 16, has emphasized that while Malawi gained political independence in 1963/64 and later embraced democracy in 1993/94, the country has yet to achieve true economic freedom.

Speaking at a campaign rally, Dr. Kabambe highlighted the struggles Malawians continue to face, despite six decades of self-governance.

He pointed out the persistent poverty, lack of decent housing, and widespread food insecurity as key indicators that the nation has not yet attained economic emancipation.

“Many Malawians are still living in dilapidated homes, struggling to put food on the table, and facing extreme hardships.

This is clear evidence that, while we are politically free, we remain economically enslaved,” he said.

Dr. Kabambe, an economic expert, elaborated on his vision for economic transformation, stating that the 2024 elections offer Malawians an opportunity to elect leaders who can effectively address these pressing financial challenges.

He assured the electorate that his administration would implement policies aimed at boosting economic growth and alleviating poverty.

He also outlined a strategic plan on how his government would allocate budgetary resources to ensure national development.

According to him, a structured and disciplined approach to managing public funds would accelerate progress in critical sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, education, and health care.

As the presidential race heats up, Dr. Kabambe remains confident in his chances of victory, expressing optimism that Malawians will support his vision for economic transformation.

With his background in economics and governance, he believes he is well-positioned to steer the nation toward sustainable prosperity.

With only a few months left before the election, all eyes are on Dr. Kabambe and other contenders as they present their policies and vision to the people.

The upcoming election is expected to be a decisive moment in Malawi’s journey toward economic growth and development.
