United Democratic Front’s (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi, has made a strong allegation that hundreds of millions of United States Dollars were stolen by the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) government and are being kept in foreign banks.

Muluzi has claimed that he has been shown figures of stolen money from Malawi in foreign banks by the reliable sources that senior members of the MCP led government have stolen a lot from Malawians urging the MCP government to return the stolen money to Malawi before the 16th September, 2025 General Elections.

He has warned President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his MCP led government that if the stolen money will not come back to the country before the 16th September, 2025 Malawians will not sit down and keep on clapping hands, they will rise up demanding their money back.

Speaking during a public rally in Lilongwe on Saturday, Muluzi has claimed that those stolen moneys which are being kept in foreign banks are for Malawians, claiming that what he is speaking has evidence demanding all those involved have a human heart of bringing back the money to Malawians.

Muluzi has assured Malawians that whether one likes it or not, Malawi will have a new President from the 16th September, 2025 claiming that Malawians cannot continue supporting a government which is stealing from them hundreds of millions of US Dollars keeping it in foreign banks for their own benefit other than for the country and its citizens.

He urged Malawians to support Atupele Muluzi’s candidature to change Malawi from abstract poverty to prosperity advising them to vote for UDF Members of Parliament (MPs) and councilors saying he is ready to bail out Malawians from their anger and concerns against the MCP government.

“It is my hope that people from Nsanje to Chitipa, Nkhotakota to Mchinji, will give support to Atupele Muluzi to rule the country,” said Muluzi.

Social media users have come out to support what Atupele Muluzi has said that MCP is keeping hundreds of millions of US Dollars in foreign banks and this money must come back before the country goes to the 16th September, 2025 elections to elect a new government.

Mrs. Esnath Kaliza Banda of Area 51 in Lilongwe, has appealed to political parties in the country to work together as one to postpone the 16th September, 2025 elections in order to put pressure to the MCP government and President Chakwera to be held accountable for these stolen money in foreign banks.

Kaliza said on 27th June, 2020 President Chakwera and his MCP government found the country’s national debt left by the DPP at K3.16 trillion claiming that out of this money, there are tangible visible projects of the DPP such as Bingu National Stadium, BICC in Lilongwe, University of MUST in Thyolo and the State-of –the-art Hospital in Nkhatabay.

She said as of today, the national debt for Malawi has been pegged at K16.1 trillion meaning that the MCP alone, has borrowed from the international community over K13 trillion in 5 years but there are no any tangible projects on the ground claiming that the whole of this money has gone into crooked pockets for big mansions and Lodges in town.

“The MCP and President Chakwera must account for this money, whoever has the money must pay back to the country, Malawi was not created by God to be a poor nation because of politicians thieving in government,” she said.

Kaliza Banda has urged Malawians never and ever to elect a politician anymore if they want their country to develop, this time around, they must elect an Economist to change the projection of Malawi with trust that candidates to do this, are either Dr. Dalitso Kabambe or Atupele Muluzi.
