Islamic Research Care and Support has urged well-wishers across the country to remember and support people serving jail sentences during times of celebration.
The organization emphasized that inmates require emotional and spiritual support, just like anyone else in society.
Executive Director for the organization, Osman Mwale, made these remarks at Mangochi Prison during a special event aimed at uplifting the spirits of the inmates.
Mwale, along with members of his organization, visited the prison and treated the inmates to a special Eid feast.
The initiative was intended to bring joy to the prisoners and remind them that they are not forgotten by society.
Speaking during the event, prison warder Wilson Zembe commended the effort and highlighted the importance of remembering and assisting those in need.
Zembe noted that such gestures play a crucial role in giving inmates hope and encouraging them to reform positively.
The Eid Feast was made possible through generous contributions from well-wishers who believe in the importance of charity and social responsibility.
Among the key contributors was Sheikh Mussa Saidan, who provided several bags of rice to support the event.
The donation ensured that the inmates enjoyed a proper meal during the Eid celebration, making the occasion even more meaningful.
Mwale expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the initiative and encouraged more people to participate in similar acts of kindness.
He reiterated that celebrating with the less fortunate, including prisoners, aligns with the principles of compassion and humanity.
Islamic Research Care and Support continues to advocate for improved welfare for inmates and is calling on more organizations and individuals to join their cause.
The organization believes that providing emotional and spiritual support to prisoners can contribute significantly to their rehabilitation.
As the event concluded, both inmates and prison officials expressed their appreciation for the gesture and hoped for more such visits in the future.
The initiative serves as a reminder that acts of kindness, no matter how small, can make a difference in the lives of those who feel forgotten.
Islamic Research Care and Support remains committed to fostering a spirit of giving and ensuring that no one in society is left behind.
