MAM leader pays courtesy call to Turkish ambassador, strengthens ties for Malawi’s development

The National Chairman of the Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM), Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad, paid a significant courtesy call to His Excellency Hüseyin Barbaros DICLE, the newly appointed Ambassador of Turkey to Zambia and Malawi, during his visit to Lusaka, Zambia.

This high-level engagement was marked by an atmosphere of mutual respect and friendship, as the two leaders discussed the long-standing relationship between Malawi and Turkey, especially through development cooperation that has touched the lives of many Malawians.

During the meeting, Sheikh Muhammad highlighted the vast impact of MAM’s work in Malawi, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare, and social welfare. He emphasized that these interventions have made tangible differences in the lives of countless Malawians, many of whom have benefited from Turkish support over the years.

Sheikh Muhammad extended heartfelt gratitude to the Turkish government and its people for their consistent assistance to Malawi’s Muslim community, especially through the provision of educational scholarships, the construction of schools and clinics, and regular humanitarian aid.

“Turkey has proven to be a steadfast friend to Malawi,” Sheikh Muhammad said. “From constructing schools to providing aid to those in need, your nation’s generosity has instilled hope in many communities.”

The conversation also touched on exploring new avenues for collaboration in future projects. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties between Malawi and Turkey, not just for the benefit of the Muslim community but for the broader development of the nation.

Ambassador Hüseyin Barbaros DICLE expressed admiration for the initiatives being implemented by the Muslim Association of Malawi. He praised MAM’s leadership and expressed readiness to support further initiatives that promote unity, social inclusion, and sustainable development in Malawi.
