Rights activist Bishop Kachenje, has asked President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to fulfill his promises he made to the people of Chikwawa and Nsanje that he will construct two High Way roads in honor of two departed senior MCP members Sidik Mohammad Mia and Gwanda Chakuamba Phiri.
Bishop Kachenje said ever since the road promises were made in 2024, there has been nothing on the ground to show that Chakwera’s dreams would come to a reality hence reminding him not to forget that the people of Nsanje and Chikwawa are still keeping his promises.
He has warned President Chakwera that failure to fulfill his promises made, the people of Nsanje and Chikwawa would label him as the most lying President out of all presidents who have governed the country.
Speaking through an audio clip, Bishop Kachenje said he is expecting President Chakwera to do something to the people of Chikwawa and Nsanje before he is leaving office saying signs are there that he will not bounce back into government except with miracles from Smartmatic machines vote in his favor.
Bishop Kachenje has claimed that the M1 road from Blantyre to Chikwawa is in bad shape making many people residing in the Lower Shire to wonder if they have a government and President to look after their welfare.
He said even at Chikwawa boma itself, the road going to the District Hospital and the District Commissioner’s offices is in dilapidated state and poses dangers to patients travelling in the Ambulances to and from Chikwawa District Hospital.
The activist said the MCP has completely done nothing in the two districts of Chikwawa and Nsanje observing that two projects have failed, the railway line connecting Nsanje to Mozambique and Chapananga Health Centre which was proved to have been built by an NGO not the MCP as appearing on the list of completed projects by the MCP on paper.
‘We know that this is the time of campaign to woo for votes and you will be coming to us for another lie, or lies, we are here waiting for you,” said Bishop Kachenje.
He has assured President Chakwera and the MCP that the people of Chikwawa and Nsanje will not keep quiet, but continuing reminding him on the fulfilment of his promises for the people not to be taken for granted.
