Maruti Suzuki aims to regain a 50 percent market in the coming years with a range of new products including ICE & CNG models, hybrids and EVs. The upcoming lineup will cater customers across a wide price range – from budget-friendly to premium, and will include compact, mid-size or larger offerings. In today’s market, Rs 10 lakh is nearly the entry-level point for well-equipped SUVs or Utility vehicles (UVs). Targeting this price segment, the carmaker plans to introduce two new affordable Maruti SUV/MPV between 2025 and 2026.
The Maruti Escudo (codenamed Y17) will be a 5-seater SUV, bridging the gap between Brezza and Grand Vitara. It will be sold via Area dealership network and is expected to come at a starting price of Rs 10 lakh. Alongside, a new subcompact MPV (codenamed YDB), based on the Suzuki Spacia currently sold in Japan, is also in the pipeline.

A brief look at the upcoming new affordable Maruti SUV/MPV.
Maruti Escudo
The Maruti Escudo will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and other midsize SUVs, and it will introduce as a slightly affordable alternative to the Grand Vitara. This new Maruti SUV is likely to share powertrains with the Grand Vitara, which is currently available with a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L strong hybrid options. Dimensionally, the Escudo will be bigger than the Brezza and slightly longer than the Grand Vitara. While design and interior details remain under wraps, the SUV is expected to share multiple elements with the Grand Vitara.
Maruti Mini MPV

The Indo-Japanese automaker is also gearing up to foray into the affordable compact MPV segment to challenge the Renault Triber and the upcoming new Nissan MPV. This model is expected to feature a 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z-Series petrol engine with both manual and CVT automatic gearbox options. Sourced from the Swift hatchback, the petrol motor produces a peak power of 82bhp and 108Nm of torque. Unlike the Japan-spec Spacia, the upcoming Maruti MPV will miss out some modern features such as the sliding rear door and ADAS suite
