Odya Zake Alibe Mlandu led by Michael Usi, is now officially recognized as a registered political party in Malawi.
This development means that the party is no longer operating illegally, as it has been formally entered into the national political party register.
The party’s Secretary General, Happy Kondowe, confirmed the news today in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station.
He stated that individuals wishing to contest for parliamentary or local government seats under the party’s banner will be able to start submitting their nomination papers beginning June 10, 2025.
Kondowe emphasized that this is a significant milestone for the party, as it marks the beginning of their official participation in Malawi’s democratic processes.
Recently, the party’s president, Michael Usi, told Zodiak that those following the party are committed supporters who have registered to vote in the upcoming elections.
Usi further urged the public not to underestimate his party, stressing that only those who are serious about national development are joining the movement.
He said the party is focused on mobilizing registered voters and disciplined citizens who are ready to transform Malawi through honest and accountable leadership.
The formal registration of the Odya Zake Alibe Mlandu positions it as one of the newest entrants in the political arena ahead of the 2025 general elections.
This move also signals Michael Usi’s intent to contest in future elections and contribute meaningfully to national development.
As the party begins accepting nomination papers, all eyes will be on how it structures its political agenda and fields candidates across the country.
Observers say the party’s next steps, including its manifesto launch and campaign strategy, will determine its reception among the electorate.
