Chairperson for the Dynamic Leaders and Gatekeepers Forum (DLGF), Reverend Zacc Kawalala, has called for national unity as a crucial ingredient in Malawi’s journey toward economic recovery.
Speaking ahead of the 8th Annual DLGF Conference, slated for 20 June 2025 at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), Rev. Kawalala emphasized the need for cohesive leadership and active citizenship.
He stated that Malawi needs dynamic leaders and vigilant gatekeepers to drive meaningful and lasting change in the country’s economic trajectory.
Rev. Kawalala noted that rebuilding Malawi’s economy requires bold thinking, ethical stewardship, and collective responsibility from all sectors of society.
Themed “Revitalising the Economy: Investing in a Stronger and More Sustainable Malawi,” this year’s conference aims to bring together thought leaders, policymakers, and development actors for strategic dialogue.
Among the notable speakers expected to feature at the conference are Allen Kagina of Uganda and Professor Winford Masanjala of Malawi.
Allen Kagina is renowned for her leadership in reforming Uganda’s public sector, particularly during her tenure at the Uganda Revenue Authority.
Professor Winford Masanjala is a respected Malawian economist and policy advisor known for his insights into economic development and institutional reform.
Rev. Kawalala expressed hope that the conference will inspire concrete action and foster partnerships that promote inclusive and sustainable growth.
He reiterated that the role of leaders and gatekeepers in both public and private spheres cannot be overstated in shaping the direction of national development.
The DLGF, through its annual gatherings, continues to position itself as a platform for dialogue, accountability, and visionary leadership in Malawi.
As the conference date draws closer, expectations are high that stakeholders will leave the event with renewed commitment to rebuilding the nation’s economy.
Rev. Kawalala concluded by urging all Malawians to seize the moment, engage meaningfully, and contribute to laying the foundation for a prosperous future.
