The Eastern Malawi Conference (EMC) of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church (SDA) Children’s Ministry has donated assorted food and non-food items to Mtendere Children’s Home at Kankao Parish in Balaka District.

Speaking during the event on Sunday, Children’s Ministry Director for Eastern Malawi Conference, Catherine Chipatala, said the donation is part of the church’s ongoing charity work aimed at helping the needy.

She emphasized that the church has a responsibility to care for vulnerable members of society, which motivated the donation to Mtendere Children’s Home, a facility that houses children with physical challenges.

On her part, Sister in charge of Mtendere Children’s Home, Sister Maritia Chilunga, expressed gratitude to the Eastern Malawi Conference Children’s Ministry Department for the timely donation.

“As the Catholic Church, we are very grateful to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, especially the Eastern Malawi Conference Children’s Ministry Department, for this donation,” Chilunga said.

She added that the home struggles with many basic needs, and the support provided has brought much-needed relief.

Sister Chilunga assured that the donated items would be used for their intended purpose to benefit the children at the home.

The donated items included maize flour, soya pieces, sugar, cooking oil, soap, blankets, exercise books, lactogen milk, pens, and pencils, among others.
