Mponda Confident as Flames Gear Up for Crucial COSAFA Clash Against Namibia

By Burnett Munthali

Flames assistant coach Peter Mponda has expressed confidence in Malawi’s readiness to face Namibia in their second Group B match of the ongoing COSAFA Cup in South Africa.

This statement comes in the wake of Malawi’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Lesotho in their opening game of the regional tournament.

Speaking ahead of today’s crucial fixture, Mponda stated that the technical panel has thoroughly analyzed the performance in the first match and made the necessary tactical adjustments.

“We’ve reviewed the errors from the first game and worked hard to correct them,” Mponda said.

He emphasized that the team is fully prepared and highly motivated to secure a positive result against Namibia.

Mponda also underlined the significance of the match, saying that the players are fully aware of what is at stake.

“The boys know the importance of winning this match and they are determined to do what is needed to secure victory,” he added.

With only one group-stage game remaining after today, Malawi must win this match to keep their hopes alive of progressing in the tournament.

The encounter with Namibia is seen as a pivotal moment in Malawi’s COSAFA Cup campaign, and the team is aiming to bounce back strongly.

Fans will be hoping the Flames rise to the occasion and deliver a performance that keeps their dream of COSAFA glory alive.
