An online radio station Limpopo FM has lamented that retired soldiers from Nayuchi who worked in the manning of a railway line been presenting their concerns and grievances to the MCP government but government has not come to their rescue.
Limpopo FM said retired soldiers just like all other soldiers in Malawi, have long outstanding issues with the Malawi Government for not addressing their concerns and grievances and they believe that their concerns were thrown under the carpet.
The radio said the court of law ruled in favor of the retired soldiers to receive their money but up to this day, President Chakwera and his MCP led government are not honoring the court judgement for the reasons best explained by themselves.
Comrade Ntanyiwa, the radio’s Nkhanga zaona producer said retired soldiers have done commendable jobs in the country sacrificing their lives claiming that others died, others had their arms and legs amputated and to see to it that government is not helping them, is a great sin before God.
He said these retired soldiers have mobilized themselves to hold peaceful demonstrations in the country’s streets for their concerns to be heard that they are in pain and suffering observing that 20 percent increment for pensioners is nothing to match with today’s cost of living.
The programme producer said these retired soldiers are demanding from well-wishers to assist them with K3 million to go a long way towards mobilizing all retired soldiers to come together in Lilongwe to voice out their concerns as one soldier in one Malawi.
He has assured retired soldiers that the radio will help them to appeal from Malawians and other well-wishers to raise the K3 million needed for them to go out in the streets protesting as one person for government to listen to their cries.
“The radio will not leave you alone, you fought a good battle for Malawi to be in this stage but it is unfortunate that government is not listening to your cries,” said Ntanyiwa.
He has appealed to all active soldiers to remember that they will one day be called retired soldiers to join the demonstrations as one claiming that them, besides being active soldiers, they are all in pain and suffering in the hands of President Chakwera’s leaders
