Kalindo says Malawi is a country of shame

By Vincent Gunde

Political activist Bon Kalindo, says Malawi is a country of shame where heads of security institutions such as Malawi Defense Force (MDF) and Malawi Police Service (MPS) are getting orders from politicians of ruling parties in government.

Kalindo said it has never happened before ever since the dawn of multiparty politics and democracy that the Army and Police could be witnessing party thugs brandishing pangas in town and left them scot-free in a country of democracy.

He praised former Army Generals including the recent one, General Vincent Nundwe for being so professional taking the Army to be the most respected security institution than the General of today who has taken the Army to be the most laughing stock by the world.

Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said for the first time in the history of the country, Malawians have witnessed police and MDF who have let free party thugs terrorizing and hacking innocent people in the country following instructions from politicians.

Kalindo said the Army and Police have forgotten their role of serving the people and instead, they are serving politicians of the ruling political party in government saying it is not surprising that the European Union (EU) has threaten to withdraw military support to the two institutions.

He has advised the youth who are being used by MCP politicians to be terrorizing and hacking innocent people today that tomorrow they will stand alone in court, there masters would not come any near to them and they will regret to be pocketing K50,000s in prisons.

“Use the K50,000s prudently out of hacking innocent people, the K50,000s will cry for you tomorrow, you will leave your business premises and you will be refugees in your own country,” said Kalindo.

Kalindo has advised opposition parties having unresolved cases for primary elections that the best they can do now is to withdraw cases in court and meet on the ground for the people to choose the best to represent them in Parliament.

He has also warned opposition party leaders joining the MCP to forget about their political party’s existence in the country claiming that apart from their parties dying a natural death, they will go alone to the MCP and none of their supporters will follow them.

The activist has made it open that it is high time Malawians have been voting for political parties into parliament but the 16th September, 2025 elections will be of the difference, people will vote for individuals basing on performance and ability.
