A dramatic 87th-minute header from Moses Banda earned Civo Service United a crucial 2-1 victory over defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in a thrilling TNM Super League clash at Civo Stadium.
The match was tightly contested, with both sides showing intent, but it was Civo who broke the deadlock early in the second half through John Dambukeni. The striker capitalized on a rare defensive lapse from the Bullets backline to slot home the opener.
However, the visitors responded swiftly. Substitute Ephraim Kondowe, introduced by coach Peter Mponda in a tactical shake-up, equalized to make it 1-1, sparking hope for a Bullets comeback.
Despite dominating possession in stretches and introducing fresh legs—including Lameck Gaphani, Ernest Petro, and Paul Master—the Bullets failed to find their rhythm in the final third. Their wastefulness in front of goal proved costly.
With the match seemingly headed for a draw, Moses Banda rose above the Bullets defense in the 87th minute to head home the winner, sending the home crowd into wild celebrations.
The result marks only the second defeat of the season for the Bullets, who also fell 1-0 to their archrivals Mighty Wanderers. Meanwhile, Civo Service United recorded their third win of the campaign, moving up the table to 13 points.
In another TNM Super League fixture played on the same day, Songwe Border United suffered a 3-1 defeat to Kamuzu Barracks.
