Member of Parliament for Mwanza Central, Nicholas Dausi, has announced that he will seek re-election in the upcoming September 16 elections — but this time as an independent candidate.
Dausi said his decision comes after closely observing the shifting political landscape in the country.
“You know, all along I was with the DPP, but they removed me, so I will stand on my own,” he declared.

Dausi, a veteran politician, further revealed that his ballot symbol will be the Mandalena Tree, a symbol he believes represents resilience and strength.
When asked about his noticeable silence on the political scene in recent months, Dausi gave a reflective response: “My child, sometimes being calm is not foolishness.”
His move sets the stage for an intriguing contest in Mwanza Central, a constituency that has long been a political stronghold for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
