A large crowd gathered at Sibawo sports ground in the area of Senior Chief Kalumo, Ntchisi District, where the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) held a mass rally aimed at strengthening its grassroots appeal.

The event attracted people from various parts of the district, reflecting the party’s continued efforts to connect with the rural electorate ahead of the 2025 general elections.

The rally was organized and led by Ulemu Chilapondwa, Member of Parliament for the southern constituency of Ntchisi, who emphasized the importance of party unity and local development.

Chilapondwa used the platform to reaffirm his commitment to serving the people of his constituency, highlighting ongoing development initiatives in sectors such as roads, education, and health.

The guest of honour at the rally was Baba Steve Malondera, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, who received a warm welcome from the enthusiastic crowd.

In his address, Malondera praised the leadership of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, stating that the MCP government remains focused on delivering long-term transformation for the country.

He encouraged the people of Ntchisi to remain steadfast in their support for the MCP, assuring them that more development projects were in the pipeline for their region.

Malondera also commended the unity shown by party leaders and grassroots supporters, describing it as a sign of the party’s enduring strength and vision.

Throughout the rally, chants and songs in support of the MCP echoed across the ground, as party regalia and flags colored the venue in the traditional green and black.

The event served not only as a show of political strength but also as a platform for leaders to interact directly with citizens, listen to their concerns, and provide policy explanations.

As Malawi approaches the 2025 elections, the MCP continues to intensify its presence in rural areas like Ntchisi, recognizing the crucial role that grassroots mobilization plays in shaping electoral outcomes.

For many in attendance, the Sibawo rally was a reaffirmation of their loyalty to the party that has ruled Malawi since 2020 under the Tonse Alliance government.
