Mzimba, Malawi: The 2025 Umuthetho Festival at Hora Mountain is just around the corner, scheduled for August 6-9. Charles Zimba, Chairperson of the Resource Mobilization Committee for Mzimba District, shared exciting updates on the preparations.
This year’s festival aims to raise K300 million, with various activities lined up to achieve this goal, including a successful fundraising dinner and a golf tournament.
“The committee is reaching out to individuals, organizations, and businesses to partner with them, offering opportunities for sponsors to showcase their products and services,” said Zimba.
Zimba emphasized that this year’s approach is different, focusing on creating mutually beneficial relationships between sponsors and the festival organizers.
Emmah Kaliya echoed Zimba’s sentiments on the importance of preserving culture, adding that everyone attending the festival should wear traditional Ngoni attire or cultural clothes, not party clothes, to show respect for the Ngoni heritage.
“By encouraging attendees to dress in traditional or cultural attire, we hope to promote the sense of respect for the Ngoni heritage, signifying the Umuthetho event,” emphasized Kaliya.
Charitable activities will characterise this year’s event, sponsors will be given space to set up pavilions to promote themselves to attendees.
