Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Blantyre City South East and the party’s Director of Operations, Sameer Suleman, has said prices of essential goods — including agricultural inputs — will go down if Malawians give former President Peter Mutharika another term in office.
Speaking at a political rally held today at Lonolo Sports Ground at BCA in Blantyre, Suleman criticized the current Malawi Congress Party (MCP)-led administration for failing to deliver on its campaign promises.
Among the key projects he cited were the long-promised Makanjira Road in Mangochi and the Thabwa–Fatima Road in Nsanje, both of which he said remain unfulfilled despite repeated assurances from the government.
“We believe that with Professor Mutharika back in office, the economy will stabilize, and the cost of living will improve for all Malawians,” said Suleman.
The rally was organized by the DPP’s Southern Region leadership, led by the party’s vice president for the South, Joseph Mwanamvekha.
The event attracted hundreds of party supporters who, according to organizers, came to renew their hope in the DPP’s promise of economic recovery and infrastructural development.
