In a major boost for Malawi’s democracy, the European Union Election Observer Mission (EUEOM) has officially presented its report on the September 16 General Election to Parliament. Chief Observer Lucia Annunziata handed over the findings to Speaker Sameer Gaffar Suleman, MP, in a ceremony that highlighted Malawi’s commitment to transparent and credible elections.

The Speaker pledged swift action on recommendations within Parliament’s mandate, particularly around legislation and oversight, signaling a strong move toward strengthening democratic institutions.

The eagerly awaited final report will be unveiled to the public in Lilongwe on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 – an event expected to capture national attention.
