The Maravi Post captured UTM shadow Member of Parliament, Chidanti Malunga, on the morning of Saturday, 26th July 2025, following his return from Chiwoko Primary School.
Malunga had just successfully submitted his nomination papers to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) for the Lilongwe Masintha constituency.
The moment was marked by jubilation as a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters gathered to show their solidarity and support for the aspiring legislator.
Supporters danced joyfully to music that echoed through the area, injecting much-needed political energy and morale into the event.
The atmosphere was electric as party followers, draped in UTM regalia, sang and chanted slogans in support of Malunga’s candidacy.
“We are going to Kawale Primary School after our shadow MP Chidanti Malunga has successfully submitted his nomination papers,” said one excited woman who was quickly interviewed in the crowd.
Her voice captured the spirit of the supporters who felt proud to stand behind their candidate during such a crucial political milestone.
Malunga’s nomination signals UTM’s readiness to contest and reclaim or maintain its presence in Lilongwe Masintha constituency ahead of the September 2025 General Elections.
His decision to submit papers early reflects the party’s strategy of proactive engagement and structured participation in the democratic process.
The strong turnout and celebratory mood among the UTM faithful also highlight the grassroots mobilization efforts that the party has invested in at the constituency level.
With his nomination now official, Chidanti Malunga is poised to intensify his campaign, aiming to win over voters and represent their interests in the National Assembly.
The Maravi Post will continue monitoring developments as more candidates across the country make their submissions and ramp up their campaigns.
