The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)-University of Malawi Wing (DPP-UNIMA Wing) has expressed full support and appreciation to Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika for choosing Justice Dr. Jane Ansah as his running mate ahead of the 16th September, 2025 general elections.
The DPP UNIMA-Wing says they believe that Justice Ansah is the best candidate for the role of Vice President of the Republic of Malawi, saying she is highly educated, experienced, and capable of helping Professor Mutharika to fix economic challenges that Malawians are currently facing.
Writing in a statement dated 26th July, 2025 signed by its Publicity Secretary Lewis Kazembe, the DPP UNIMA-Wing says Justice Ansah’s strong Curricular Vitae is speaking for itself giving Malawians confidence that their country will be in safe hands under the DPP leadership.
The DPP UNIMA-Wing has sincerely thanked Professor Mutharika for promoting gender inclusivity by selecting a woman to be his running mate claiming that this is showing his continued commitment to involving women in national development which is a clear sign of progressive and inclusive leadership.
The DPP UNIMA-Wing has expressed its deep appreciation to Professor Mutharika for promoting national unity through his choices observing that his decision to pick a Vice President from the Central Region while he comes from the Southern Region, and to appoint Hon. Enock Kamzingeni Chihana as the Second Vice President is showing his brilliant and unifying leadership style that puts Malawi first.
The Statement says as the UNIMA DPP Wing, they are proudly standing behind Professor Mutharika and his leadership assuring him that they will continue to support him and campaign vigorously for him and the party, promoting his ideas and vision for a better Malawi.
“Together, we believe in restoring hope, and rebuilding our nation,” reads the statement in part.
Karonga based rights activist Comrade Lytone Mangochi, has congratulated Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika for thinking outside the box choosing someone from far as his running mate- Justice Dr. Jane Ansah saying this has proved that he is a statesman.
Mangochi said in the DPP, they were people who were fighting for the presidential hot seat and Professor Mutharika avoided them for a running mate position so that there is sanity in the DPP describing what Professor Mutharika has done picking Justice Dr. Jane Ansah as his running mate as visionary leadership.
He has appealed to Honorable Alfred Gangata, Jappie Mhango, Bright Msaka and Joseph Mwanamvekha to work together as they were doing before and support Justice Dr. Jane Ansah assuring them that their turn for the big position is coming and they should keep patience.
The activist has advised the four senior DPP gurus not to be disappointed by Professor Mutharika’s choice of Justice Dr. Jane Ansah saying she is not an ordinary person and she is a woman capable of delivering in the same way as Professor Mutharika.
“Forward ever, backward never, the good things are coming to you four, you have come from far, what Malawians need, is liberation of the country amid the challenges of hunger, no medicines in hospitals and eating wild bushes (chitedze) as food for their survival,” said Mango
