Political analyst Burnett Munthali has called on all members and supporters of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), as well as patriotic Malawians, to rally behind Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika in a bid to rescue the country from hunger, soaring prices of essential goods, and widespread despair.
Munthali appealed to Malawians to let go of the past and unite for a better future by voting for Professor Mutharika in the upcoming elections scheduled for September 16, 2025. He emphasized that Mutharika has the potential to steer the nation away from what he described as the destructive governance of the MCP-led administration under President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
He assured the nation that Professor Mutharika embodies a leadership of hope, vision, and experience—one that is ready to respond to the overwhelming calls from Malawians for change and progress.
“Professor Mutharika has led Malawi before. He understands the challenges the country faces and how to overcome them. That is why millions of Malawians are praying for the return of his proven leadership to restore hope,” said Munthali.
He stressed that the country is currently at a crossroads, plagued by a lack of purposeful leadership. Citizens are crying out for help, yet their cries are being ignored. Munthali assured Malawians that under Mutharika’s leadership, a new Malawi could rise from the ashes.
“Under Professor Mutharika’s leadership, we can build a Malawi that works for everyone—a Malawi where progress replaces stagnation,” he added.
Munthali urged DPP members and supporters to raise their flags high, sing songs of victory, and demonstrate to the world that the party is not only ready but determined to lead Malawi into a new era of development and progress.
Meanwhile, a DPP Youth District Governor for Lilongwe, speaking on condition of anonymity, appealed to party members not to be disheartened by Mutharika’s selection of Justice Dr. Jane Ansah as his running mate. He stressed that the 2025 election would likely play out in the courts, framing it as a battle between Justice Ansah and Justice Annabel Mtalimanja.
The source claimed that the MCP has captured key public institutions, including the Judiciary, in its quest to retain power. He commended Mutharika’s decision to choose a strong woman capable of standing up to fellow judges in what he described as a legal contest for the presidency.
He further appealed to DPP members to support Justice Ansah, portraying her as a vital figure in the fight to liberate the country from what he termed “corrupt judges” allegedly favoring the MCP.
“The September 16, 2025, elections are likely to be contested in court. Malawians will not accept a MEC declaration of a landslide victory for Chakwera. Justice Dr. Jane Ansah will be on our side,” said the source.
