Concerned Citizen claims Chakwera’s possibility of losing, real

By Vincent Gunde

A Concerned Citizen of Malawi Pheni Chuma-Mkusa, says all he wants is to see President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera winning the 16th September, 2025 elections, sincerely hoping he wins but there is a possibility of losing this election.

Mkusa says President Chakwera is preparing for a such a scenario claiming that many Malawians including his parents who are staunch MCP supporters feel that the economy was better under Professor Mutharika with goods being more affordable than they are now.

He says Malawians have forgotten all the mess DPP caused in the country with the situation the country has reached, it is being driven as if there’s no driver to look after the welfare of the citizens that are crying aloud, but the leader is not listening to their cries.

Writing on his face book page, Mkusa says he is hoping MCP strategists are not making the mistake of relying too heavily on the perceived weakness of Professor Mutharika and his running mate Justice Dr. Jane Ansah and under estimating the real threat of Mutharika’s victory.

Mkusa says the country’s economic concerns, not the choice of the running mate, will likely shape how people vote especially undecided voters saying while the MCP has a big chance of winning the 16th September, 2025 elections, they still face a major challenge in persuading Malawians not to vote for Professor Mutharika.

He says Professor Mutharika’s name cannot be forgotten in the eyes of Malawians on the way he governed the country, he used to sell a bag of maize at K10,000 compared to the current price of K100,000 by President Chakwera.

“That’s not going to be an easy thing to do persuading registered voters not to vote for Professor Mutharika,” reads Mkusa’s writings on the wall.

Concurring with Mkusa, DPP Youth Governor for Lilongwe Urban speaking on a strict condition of anonymity, has challenged the MCP that having a transparent 16th September, 2025 elections, there is no way Professor Mutharika can lose.

The governor has assured the MCP that if the will of Malawians will not be respected and Mec of Justice Annabel Mtalimanja declaring President Chakwera the winner, Malawians will not accept the results claiming that political parties are going to the 16th September, 2025 elections already rigged by the MCP through Mec to favor President Chakwera.

“There have been concerns raised by opposition political parties and electoral stakeholders to Mec, but these concerns have not been addressed, the 16th September, 2025 elections will not be free and fair not free and fair but a poisonous election,” said the governor.
