“Winds of Change: Chaponda Rides IPOR Wave to Rally Behind Mutharika”

By Suleman Chitera

In a bold show of confidence and political momentum, senior Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) official George Chaponda has declared the recent IPOR survey results as undeniable proof that Malawians are ready to return Peter Mutharika to power.

Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd at Mombo Primary School in Mulanje after submitting his nomination papers for the upcoming parliamentary race, Chaponda said the survey results mirror the growing frustrations of citizens and signal a looming political shift.

“The IPOR findings are not surprising at all,” Chaponda said. “They simply cement what Malawians already know—that Peter Mutharika remains the most trusted and preferred leader. The people have suffered enough under this administration.”

According to Chaponda, the Chakwera-led government has failed to tackle pressing issues such as the surging cost of living, rampant corruption, and escalating unemployment. He accused the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) of sinking the nation deeper into poverty and despair.

“Prices are skyrocketing, hunger is worsening, and youth are languishing without jobs. The government has failed on every front,” he said. “But the people are not blind. They see who truly has the experience and capacity to restore hope—and that leader is Peter Mutharika.”

The seasoned politician, who has served multiple terms as Member of Parliament for Mulanje South West, emphasized that his bid for re-election is rooted in a personal mission to push for development and enforce transparency in governance.

“The time for guesswork is over. Come 2025, Malawians will vote for real leadership. The DPP is not just an alternative—we are the solution.”

The IPOR (Institute of Public Opinion and Research) report, released earlier this month, paints a bleak picture for the current administration. With approval ratings for President Chakwera plummeting, the report highlights a surge in support for the DPP, setting the stage for what could be a fierce political showdown in 2025.

As the political winds shift and opposition voices grow louder, one thing is clear—Malawi is heading into a defining moment, and the call for change is echoing from the grassroots.
