New Policy, Bold Vision: Malawi Launches National Disability Policy 2025

The Ministry of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare has officially launched the National Disability Policy 2025 at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe today, August 1st.

Graced by Hon. Jean Muonaowuza Sendeza, the colourful event blended policy with culture, featuring traditional dances by the Veterans Dancing Troupe and a comedy set by Chindime and Phungwaku.

The policy aims to ensure the inclusion, protection, and empowerment of persons with disabilities across Malawi.

The programme included key speeches, entertainment, and reflections from the Chief Disability Affairs Officer, Mr. Joshua Mkwehiwa, and Dr. Nertha Sempere-Mgala, the Secretary for Gender.

As the Minister officially launched the policy, she emphasized the government’s commitment to leaving no one behind.
