Prophet Shepherd Bushiri Urges Malawi Politicians to Stop Making Empty Promises

By Suleman Chitera

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, leader of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Church, has called on Malawi’s political leaders to practice honesty and transparency as the country heads toward crucial elections.

Speaking to his followers and the public, Bushiri warned politicians against making empty promises to citizens during campaign periods, stressing that trust is built on truth and integrity.

“Promise the people what you can deliver,” Bushiri said. “The nation is at a critical juncture and needs leaders who can guide it with honesty and a clear vision.”

Bushiri emphasized that political parties must be realistic about what they can achieve once in government, avoiding pledges that are beyond their capacity. According to him, citizens deserve straightforward communication from those seeking public office.

The call comes at a time when Malawi is preparing for the next general elections, with campaign rhetoric already heating up. Bushiri’s message resonates with many Malawians who have grown frustrated by repeated unfulfilled promises from successive governments.

As the election season intensifies, his remarks add to growing voices urging political accountability and responsible leadership in Malawi.
