Malawi 2025 Elections: DPP’s Eluby Kandeu Tells Voters to End Economic Hardship by Supporting Peter Mutharika

Mangochi, Malawi – The senior most woman in the eastern region of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Eluby Kandeu, has expressed confidence that Malawians who have endured economic hardships over the past five years will rally behind the DPP and its leader, Peter Mutharika, in the upcoming 2025 elections.

Speaking at the Kella Sports Ground in Mangochi, where DPP Member of Parliament for Mangochi Central, Roza Fatch, organized a political rally, Kandeu said the party is ready with strong policies to revive Malawi’s struggling economy.

“We have toured many areas and found that maize is being sold at MK70,000, and in some places, MK80,000. If we leave things like this, won’t the price reach MK200,000 by December?” Kandeu asked, warning that rising food costs were pushing many households deeper into poverty.

She argued that once the DPP returns to power, the challenges facing ordinary Malawians, particularly high commodity prices, would be addressed through structured economic reforms.

On her part, Roza Fatch urged voters in Mangochi and across Malawi to make informed choices at the ballot box.

“The power is in your hands. You must decide whether to continue suffering or to vote for happiness and economic recovery,” said Fatch.

The Democratic Progressive Party is intensifying its campaign in key districts like Mangochi, presenting itself as the solution to Malawi’s worsening economic situation. With the rising cost of living dominating political debates, the DPP hopes to leverage voter frustration to stage a comeback in 2025 under Peter Mutharika’s leadership.
