Blantyre, Malawi – September 10, 2025 — Maranatha Academy has brought together Malawi’s top Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) performers, who scored between 7 and 8 points, for a special dinner extravaganza at Crossroads Hotel in Blantyre, as they await their highly anticipated educational reward trip to Victoria Falls in Zambia.

The Academy’s Director, Ernest Kaonga, said the group was scheduled to leave for Zambia today, Wednesday. However, the trip has been delayed after the institution failed to access the required foreign exchange (forex) from the bank.

“It is true that we were supposed to leave for Zambia today with the top performers of this year’s MSCE, but now we have to wait for forex,” Kaonga confirmed. “We are hopeful that with the right assistance, we can leave before the weekend.”

The trip, which has become a hallmark of Maranatha Academy’s reward system for academic excellence, is designed to inspire and motivate outstanding students while exposing them to international learning and cultural experiences.

Despite the delay, several students from across the country—including Mzimba, Dowa, Rumphi, Mulanje, and Neno—have already arrived in Blantyre in preparation for the journey.

Kaonga reiterated the school’s commitment to recognizing and celebrating academic excellence, saying Maranatha Academy remains determined to give students experiences that go beyond the classroom.

The forex shortage, which has been affecting several sectors in Malawi, has now disrupted this annual reward program. Parents, education stakeholders, and the public will be watching closely to see whether the students can embark on their trip before the weekend.
