The CAF fixture, set to take place in Lilongwe, is expected to attract massive crowds, with YANGA reportedly bringing over eight busloads of supporters to Malawi. Authorities say the encounter is more than a sporting event—it’s a chance to boost sports tourism, local business, and foreign exchange earnings.

From hotels and restaurants to transport operators and small vendors, the economic ripple effect is already being felt. “This match is a clear example of how football can move people, create opportunities, and stimulate the economy,” the government statement added.

The Minister emphasized that a packed stadium and loud home support could make a crucial difference for Silver Strikers, urging fans to fill the stands dressed in the team’s blue and white colors.

“Let us rally behind the Bankers as they carry the Malawian flag high. Their victory will not only be a triumph for the club but a win for Malawi’s football development,” Gangata stated.

Fans across all regions have been encouraged to travel to Lilongwe and create an electrifying atmosphere that will inspire the team and showcase Malawi’s football culture to the continent
