A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has called on Members of Parliament (MPs)that were elected with the blessings of their constituences and wants Malawi to grow, to vote for Hon. Sameer Suleman as Speaker of the National Assembly.
Kamphangala said if he was a Member of Parliament, he would have settled for Sameer Suleman saying Suleman proved himself to the MCP led government of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera that he tolerates nonsense.
He said even though he was not Speaker of Parliament or Leader of Opposition, his works earned trust by all Malawians that wanted the National Assembly to transact business in the interest of all and not siding with the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
The MCP diehard said Hon. Sameer Suleman, Kamlepo Kalua and Yeremia Chihana had for 5 years of President Chakwera been providing concrete criticism to the MCP led government and had it been that the MCP listened to them, they would have been in government today.
He said the three stood firmly in Parliament representing not only their constituencies but Malawians, they have sailed through pain and sufferings, been pointed fingers that they were critics to government while they were providing advices.
The MCP diehard said every time one of the three stood up in Parliament to contribute to the motion brought on the table, Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani- Hara had to evoke Parliamentary Standing order 105 to leave the House.
He said with the election of Suleman as Speaker of Parliament, the country’s Constitution which has so many loopholes will be revisited, reviewed and amended for the country to go back to factory setting other than continuing with the bad apples from the MCP.
Kamphangala said it is obvious that the MCP is afraid to have Suleiman as Speaker of Parliament claiming that he will lead the national Assembly in the debate for deregistering the MCP from a list of political parties in Malawi.
He said the MCP parliamentary rule will be remembered for producing the worst Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani- Hara and the worst Leader of Opposition Dr. Kondwani Nankhumwa and this time around, the whole MCP is ganging for another MCP to protect the party’s interests in Parliament.
“I am appealing to all independent MPs join hands to vote for Suleman for Speaker of Parliament and not Hon. Peter Dimba, Malawians wants Chikangawa case to be concluded, Ralph Kasambala’s death to be investigated and the recent revelations that deported Burundians never reached their countries of origin, they were murdered in Malawi.,” said Kamphangala.
He has finally appealed to the whole House, independents, opposition and government sides in the National Assembly to consider introducing Chichewa as a language of communication in Parliament for all MPs to take part in the parliamentary proceedings.
