In the aftermath of the recent elections, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has escalated a relentless campaign of misinformation and propaganda aimed at discrediting the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and its allies.

This spate of deceitful tactics has not only sown confusion among Malawians but has also sought to undermine critical national and regional agreements essential for the country’s welfare.

Marapost online delved deeply into the MCP’s orchestrated misinformation, exposing a pattern that reveals their desperation and blatant disregard for the truth.

The latest episode in this ongoing saga involves a fake publication alleging that the maize procurement deal between Zambia and Malawi has collapsed.

This claim is utterly false and has been officially refuted by Zambia’s Minister of Information and Chief Government Spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa.

The Zambian government has categorically described the publication as misleading and malicious, emphasizing that the maize contract remains intact and that both countries continue to cooperate mutually.

The Ministry of Agriculture, not the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, handles matters relating to maize, further exposing the glaring inaccuracies in the fake document.

It is critical to highlight that this fabricated press release was not a rogue misinformation act but a calculated move orchestrated by the MCP, which is still grappling with its denial over the election results.

Evidence gathered during our investigations reveals that the MCP is behind this latest attempt to mislead the nation.

This is not an isolated incident. Prior to this, the MCP manufactured a fake press release claiming that the DPP government had implemented a 20% reduction in fuel prices — a baseless assertion designed to confuse and mislead the public.

Following that, they fabricated another release falsely alleging that Malawi was committed to recognizing the rights of minority LGBT groups, a claim that sparked controversy without any basis in fact.

Our investigations did not stop there. After exposing these two fabricated press releases, we probed further into MCP’s propaganda machine.

It became clear that the party was preparing yet another false press release intended to cause unrest and discredit the current government.

Unfortunately for the MCP, their latest deceit was swiftly exposed when the Zambian government publicly denounced the fake maize deal statement, proving once again that the MCP relies on lies rather than facts to manipulate public opinion.

This pattern of misinformation is not only irresponsible but dangerous.

The MCP’s deliberate attempts to spread falsehoods about critical issues such as food security and regional cooperation threaten to destabilize the nation at a time when unity and accurate information are paramount.

By misleading Malawians, the MCP betrays the trust of the citizens it claims to represent and undermines the very fabric of democratic governance.

The MCP should be reminded that political competition should be grounded in truth and constructive critique, not in deception and propaganda.

Their dirty tricks, which have now been fully exposed, will not derail Malawi’s progress or change the outcome of the elections.

The Malawian people are discerning and resilient; they will not be swayed by baseless lies and destructive tactics.

As the nation continues to face challenges such as hunger, which affects over four million people, the government’s efforts, including the maize procurement deal facilitated by President Professor Peter Mutharika in collaboration with Zambia’s leadership, must be supported and respected.

The MCP’s actions, on the other hand, only serve to distract and divide, which is a disservice to all Malawians.

The MCP’s ongoing propaganda campaign is a glaring example of political denial and desperation.

The party must accept the will of the people and cease its reckless attempts to destabilize the country through misinformation.

The truth is clear, the facts have been laid bare, and the MCP’s web of deceit has been fully exposed. No matter the extent of their dirty tactics, the MCP will never rule Malawi again.

The people have spoken, and it is time for all parties to embrace honesty, accountability, and unity for the nation’s future.
