There have been reports that the Anti- Bureau (ACB) has arrested a number of high ranking officers of the Greenbelt Authority suspected of siphoning K36.8 billion in the name of mega farms but this money entered through the pockets of crooked individuals.

The reports further are indicating that part of this money was used to fund MCP campaign meetings in a quest for President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to bounce back into government in the elections which were held on the 16th September, 2025.

This news of K36.8 billion is just a tip of an iceberg that what happened at the Greenbelt Authority, has happened in a number of Government Departments under the watch of man of God, an ordained priest of the Malawi Assemblies of God- President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his MCP led government.

It was also reported in various media platforms that K67 billion which was allocated to State House was blown off in just within a year, this was evidenced with free for all money which were being distributed to state House guests who were coming in hired lorries and buses.

As this was enough, media reports indicated that a total of K3.4 trillion disappeared from government coffers in just 3 months to the 16th September, 2025 general elections speaking clearly that some MCP senior members knew that they will not cross the wilderness of the elections.

The National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF), an institution which was established to provide loans to the youths, has been a source of looting of public resources, one obtaining a loan of 8000 bags of fertilizer for mega farms and ended up selling and buying a fleet of minibuses and sientas.

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has intensified arrests of MCP members believed to have taken a hand in the looting of public resources in Malawi, former President and MCP leader Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has described these arrests as politically motivated ones.

A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Vice Constituency Secretary in Lilongwe speaking on a strict condition of anonymity, has asked President Chakwera to let the law enforcers do their work, arresting and detaining those who have committed offenses.

The MCP member said he find no reason for President Chakwera to complain to President Professor Mutharika not to arrest his party members and supporters who have stolen a lot from Malawians building mansions, Lodges and filling stations in town becoming millionaires over a night.

“Let those who are being suspected of committing crimes be acquitted in court and not playing political interferences on the arrested individuals,” said the source.

He said it will be good for the whole MCP senior members to hand themselves to the Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) other than to be served with Warrants of Arrest claiming that the ACB has already assured the general public that it will soon obtain more arrest warrants for the suspects.
