Iran has warned Romania that it could face political and legal consequences if it allows the United States to use military bases on its territory for operations against Tehran.
Speaking during a weekly press briefing on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran is urging countries to avoid involvement in the ongoing conflict with Iran.
Baghaei cautioned that if Romania permits the United States to launch military operations from its bases, it would be considered direct participation in aggression against Iran.
“If Romania makes its bases available to the United States, it would amount to participation in military aggression against Iran,” Baghaei said.
He added that such a move would be unacceptable under international law and warned that Romania would bear international responsibility for any actions carried out from its territory.
The statement comes as tensions continue to escalate between Iran and the United States, with Tehran calling on other countries to refrain from becoming involved in the conflict.
