Social commentator Stanley Onjezani Kenani, has thanked Malawians for coming out speaking on Amaryllis Hotel sale saying their fight was not in vain, there is hope.
Writing on his face book page, Kenani said he is very happy to hearing what the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) has done that it has given the Public Service Pension Trust Fund (PSPTF) to rescind its decision reached to buy Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre.
He said the Reserve Bank of Malawi has instructed the Financial Intelligence Authority ( FIA) to follow up the money saying so far, K76 billion has been frozen or preserved.
The commentator said each Pension Trust Fund trustee has been slapped with a K40 million penalty for which they are personally liable and must pay within seven days.
” The Reserve Bank of Malawi has referred the matter to various prosecutorial authorities to take action,” reads Kenani’s writings on the wall.
Counsel Bob Chimkango writing on his face book has written a food for thought that in their wisdom today, the Reserve Bank of Malawi has frozen the Amaryllis Hotel operating accounts, saying they should not cry tomorrow if the Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal orders compensation to the owner of Amaryllis Hotel.
A Malawi Congress Party ( MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala recently said he don’t understand why people are pushing government to take action on the suspected individuals who completed the sale of Amaryllis Hotel on 25th October, 2025 leaving out those who initiated the sale in 2023 to 2024.
Kamphangala said President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has to be questioned on why he did not appoint a Board of Trustees for Amaryllis Hotel for 14 months from 2024 to June, 2025 when he appointed Mr. Chizaso Nyirongo as its Chairperson.
He said it is this Chizaso Nyirongo who ordered forensic audit for the Amaryllis Hotel which discovered that K11.5 of the K128 billion sale of the Hotel was given to the MCP to buy campaign materials which included maheu and MCP T-shirts.
” MCP President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is owing the nation millions of questions without answers on the Amaryllis Hotel sale, the police must do their work on him,” said Kamphangala.
He has proposed to government to arrest and prosecute Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, Colleen Zamba, George Jimu, Frank Mbeta and Joseph Mathyola Mwanamvekha for each one of these people to be declared by the court of law guilty or not guilty.
Kamphangala has finally warned government that if there’s no arrest of the individuals mentioned, let the case be closed that politicians are one, they cannot be arrested, their money is buying for themselves justice.
