88 Percent Population Access Clean Safe Water

About 88 percent of the country’s population now has access to clean and safe water.

The revelation comes alongside the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene joint sector review meeting being facilitated by the Ministry of Water and Sanitation at Bingu International Conference Center in Lilongwe.

According to James Kumwenda, Spokesperson for the Ministry, the meeting which has started today, February 22nd is expected to come to an end on 23rd February.

The review meeting is being held under the them theme, Leveraging Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Peace and Well-Being.

Speaking to MIJ Online, Kumwenda said the main objective of the meeting is to review progress in ensuring that all Malawians have access to safe water as stipulated in the Malawi Vision 2063.

Kumwenda added that the Ministry is impressed with the progress the country is registering as of 100 people, 88 have access to safe water
