Two brothers are in police custody at Mpingu Police Station for being found in possession of a pistol and eight live ammunition without authorized documents at Mpingu Trading center in Lilongwe.
The other suspect connected to case has fled.
Lilongwe Police publicist Hastings Chigalu has identified the suspects as Godfrey Mbewe, 25, and Sackson Mbewe, 29, while the runaway suspect is yet to be identified.
Chigalu said that the arrest was due to a tip-off from well-wishers stating that the three were offering for sale a pistol and ammunition at K1.5 million at a certain drinking place at the named trading center.
In addition he said that, the law enforcers followed up the matter which led to arrest of the two while the other one managed to run away.
He added that the pistol and ammunition have since been recovered.
It is reported that Sackson Mbewe bought the pistol and ammunition in South Africa, where he had been staying for the past ten years.
Meanwhile, a manhunt is underway to arrest the runaway suspect.
Both Godfrey and Sackson Mbewe hail from Mwadzama Village, Traditional Authority Khombedza in Salima district.
