EU Mobilises K8 Billion Support For Cyclone Freddy Response

The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Malawi Rune Skinnebach says the block has raised $7.2 million (about K8 billion) for Cyclone Freddy’s response in Malawi.

Skinnebach who is visiting cyclone survivors in the Southern Region said this during an interface with journalists under the Blantyre Press Club at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre.

He said most European countries’ economies are facing challenges, However, they have put resources together to support Malawi.

He said it is sad that Malawi has for the past few years suffered several setbacks including COVID-19, Cyclone Ana, Cyclone Idai, Cyclone Gombe, Cholera Outbreak and finally Cyclone Freddy.
