Flames legend, Esau Kanyenda, has agreed with former Flames coach, Kinnah Phiri, on sentiments that Gabadinho Mhango must return at the national team so that some problems should be solved.
This comes after Patrick Mabedi dropped the star yet again in the 2025 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers where the team lost 2-3 to Burundi and will play Burkina Faso on Monday for the second match of the group L.
Meanwhile, speaking to Times Newspaper, Phiri asked Football Association of Malawi and Malawi to intervene in the Mabedi-Mhango saga so that the star returns to the team soon.
Commenting on the matter, Esau Kanyenda, said there is a need for Mhango to return as the team is missing a lot of chances which may need a clinical forward like him.
“I second the idea of bringing back Gabadinho Mhango to the team, look at the chances that we squandered during the Burundi game.Who knows, maybe if we had Gaba in that game something could have happen.
If there are some differences, let’s burry it so that our beautiful game of football should win.” Wrote Kanyenda.
However, all the calls made by different people in the country to let Mhango return looks nothing to Patrick Mabedi who still insists that Mhango’s playing time at Flames is over.
