UTM Youth Director Penjani “Fredo” Kaluwa has expressed confidence that the UTM Party will one day form government, saying the party remains a beacon of hope for many Malawians despite being outside power.

Kaluwa made the remarks on Saturday during commemorations marking the life and legacy of former Vice President and UTM founder Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima at Ntcheu Stadium.UTM Pledges Support to DPP Government, Vows Comeback in Future Elections

Speaking to supporters, Kaluwa said UTM remains committed to fulfilling Chilima’s vision and believes its time to govern Malawi will eventually come.

“We are confident that one day UTM will form government,” said Kaluwa.

He stressed that the party harbors no jealousy towards the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), adding that one of UTM’s political objectives had been to see the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) leave government.

“We are not jealous of the DPP. What we wanted was for MCP to leave government, and our prayers were answered,” he said.Fredokiss addresses rally on Dr. Saulos Chilima’s plane crash and legacy

Kaluwa also expressed concern over the growing number of young Malawians migrating to South Africa in search of better economic opportunities. He attributed the trend to a lack of jobs and limited access to empowerment programs for young people.

According to Kaluwa, initiatives such as loans under the Malawi Enterprise Development Fund (MADEF) and employment opportunities are allegedly benefiting only a select few, leaving many youths without support.NRB accused of defying court ruling on side-by-side registration

“MADEF loans are being shared among the same people, and jobs are also being given to the same individuals. The hope of young people lies in UTM,” he said.

The UTM youth leader further emphasized that the ideals and vision championed by the late Dr. Chilima remain alive within the party and continue to inspire its members.

Kaluwa also commended the government for establishing an inquiry into the death of Dr. Chilima, describing the move as an important step toward ensuring transparency and accountability.Dr. Saulos Chilima: Ruling from the Grave – The Winds of Change Stir in Malawi
