As the world marks World Post Day, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the Malawi Post Corporation (MPC) has reiterated its dedication to serving the public efficiently despite the challenges posed by global technological advancements.
During a media tour in Dedza on Monday, MPC Acting Regional Manager for the Central Region, Benard Kamphandule, highlighted the corporation’s efforts to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. He emphasized that MPC has re-strategized to retain its importance in modern society by adapting its services to meet the changing needs of the public.
Kamphandule proudly pointed to the revamping of MPC’s courier services, which he described as both affordable and accessible. According to him, this is one of the key areas where MPC is generating revenue while still providing valuable services to the community.
“We are focused on ensuring that our services remain efficient and reliable despite the technological shifts globally. By enhancing our courier services, we are able to offer practical solutions for people across the country,” said Kamphandule.
Francis Chiwaya, Postmaster at Lobi Post Office in Dedza District, echoed Kamphandule’s sentiments, noting that post offices are still fully operational and continue to play a critical role, especially in rural areas. He added that MPC’s partnerships with various institutions have made it easier to deliver services to underserved communities, ensuring that people in rural areas are not left behind in the modern world.
As Malawi joins the global postal community in celebrating World Post Day, MPC’s efforts to innovate while staying true to its mission of public service reflect its commitment to overcoming the challenges posed by the digital age. The corporation continues to serve as a vital link in ensuring communication and service delivery across the country.
