In his address, the MP highlighted the challenges many women face, often suffering in silence to shield their husbands and families from hardship. He stressed the need for men to step up and protect women, acknowledging their strength and sacrifices.

“Women are the backbone of our families and communities. Many times, they bear immense burdens in silence to protect their homes and families. It is high time that we, as men, take the responsibility to safeguard and support them in their critical roles,” Msungama said.

The MP’s gesture was met with appreciation from the women in attendance, who received various essential items, including maize flour, sugar, soap, and money. Msungama also treated the women to a lunch in celebration of their hard work and contributions to their families.

One of the beneficiaries, Ethel Kachimanga, expressed her gratitude for the support. “We are grateful to Honorable Msungama for remembering us on this special day. These donations will go a long way in helping our families, and we appreciate his generosity,” she said.

The donations, which were part of Msungama’s initiative to uplift women in his constituency, aim to ease some of the economic challenges they face, particularly as they continue to play pivotal roles in their households.

Msungama’s efforts have been praised by many as a positive step in recognizing and supporting women, and his call for men to take a more active role in protecting and valuing women resonates with the ongoing push for gender equality in Malawi.
