Amid drizzling rain showers, the Flames of Malawi and Senegal took to the field for what many hoped would be a redemption match for Malawi. The weather offered a refreshing change, but the atmosphere at the stadium was far from vibrant, with a less-than-impressive turnout. It appeared that the home crowd had lost faith in their national team after a series of poor performances, as the Flames have struggled and become easy targets for their continental rivals.

From the first whistle, it was clear that all was not going well for Malawi. Despite the enthusiasm of playing on home soil, the Flames failed to assert control over the game, and the team’s ongoing difficulties were apparent.
